With the whole world investigating and asking questions about the root kit Carrier IQ, Rogers and Telus have confirmed the tracking software is not present on any of their devices.

@RogersMary sent out a confirmation tweet, and MobileSyrup got in touch with Telus. Bell has yet to speak about the subject.

Carrier IQ was confirmed to be present on iOS, but you can turn it off by following these instructions. Are you worried about Carrier IQ?

The developers of Infinity Blade, Chair Entertainment, are back a year later with Infinity Blade II which is now available for download in the App Store for $6.99. The game which is often quoted to be "a showcase piece", is a technically and visually stunning title that consistently delivers eye-popping stuff. In screenshots, the game might look indistinguishable from its year-old predecessor but in fact, it offers much more. The sharper shadows, stronger lighting, and a glut of atmospheric effects appear amazingly beautiful, especially on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

Like the first game, this one is on a loop, lasting about 20 minutes on a play-through before you will face an end boss, bring your accumulated armor and ability upgrades back to a restart and play through again. The game now allows dual-wielding of some blades and heavy weapons adding new defensive techniques and offensive combos. You can now specialize weapons by adding gems that induce special effects like poison or health re-generation. Even the story is worth caring about, as your first death introduces a twist to what these Infinity Blade games are really about.

Here is the iTunes description:

'Carrier IQ' Spyware References Discovered In iOS, Here Are The Details

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.

References of 'Carrier IQ', the infamous spware, have just been found in Apple's iOS. For those who aren't aware, 'Carrier IQ' is the rootkit that Carriers put on many of their phones to monitor customer usage.  As previously discovered by a security researcher, 'Carrier IQ' monitors keystrokes and sends them back to its own servers. Luckily on iOS devices, it appears to have been cut off from such activities. On iOS, it merely stores information but doesn't seem to be sending anything as long as 'Diagnostics and Usage'  in iOS 5 is turned off.

Chpwn, a renowned member of iOS hacker community has published a blog post explaining what 'Carrier IQ' references discovered in iOS mean:

Carrier IQ, the now infamous "rootkit" or "keylogger", is not just for Android, Symbian,BlackBerry, and even webOS. In fact, up through and including iOS 5, Apple has included a copy of Carrier IQ on the iPhone. However, it does appears to be disabled along with diagnostics enabled on iOS 5; older versions may send back information in more cases. Because of that, if you want to disable Carrier IQ on your iOS 5 device, turning off "Diagnostics and Usage" in Settings appears to be enough.

Importantly, it does not appear the daemon has any access or communication with the UI layer, where text entry is done. I am reasonably sure it has no access to typed text, web history, passwords, browsing history, or text messages, and as such is not sending any of this data remotely.

As of now, Windows Phone 7 is the only mobile operating system without this installed. However, if you really are concerned about any information your iOS device is sending to 'Carrier IQ', then you can head to Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & Usage > and select 'Don't Send.'

In case you'd like to know what information is sent to 'Carrier IQ' if the above option is not disabled, here it is:

  • CoreTelephony
    • your phone number
    • your carrier
    • your country
    • active phone calls
      • (However, I only saw it noting that a phone call was active, not what number was dialed or it was received from. But, I am not going to claim it doesn't do that: it's certainly possible, but didn't see it.)
  • CoreLocation
    • your location (Only, however, if Location Services are enabled.)

Check Out Robin Williams' Impersonation of Siri on Ellen [Video]

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.

Robin Williams is one of those comedians that has wit as quick as lightning. During his appearance on Ellen in late November to promote his new movie Happy Feet Two, he gave his best impersonation of Siri, everybody's favourite personal assistant.

When Ellen brought up the subject of Siri and the iPhone, Robin went off and did his 'thing'. I won't spoil it for you–check out the video below:

Robin Williams noted he is 'fascinated' by the iPhone 4S and admitted he uses Siri often in a recent interview with Associated Press:

AP: As a big technology buff, what gadgets or games are you into at the moment?

Williams: I'm fascinated by the new iPhone. I bought it and kept trying to use it in France. "Siri, what is a good restaurant?" (In a robotic voice.) "I'm sorry, Robin. I can't give locations in France." "Why, Siri?" "I don't know." It's like she was upset with the French or something. "They seem to have an attitude I can't understand. Should I look for Germans, Robin?"

Good ol' Robin Williams.
