Google has acquired the all-in-one messenger chat startup Meebo, as announced on the latter's blog:

We are happy to announce that Meebo has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Google!

For more than seven years we've been helping publishers find deeper relationships with their users and to make their sites more social and engaging. Together with Google, we're super jazzed to roll up our sleeves and get cracking on even bigger and better ways to help users and website owners alike.

TechCrunch reports the the final price was around $100 million paid by Google and there will be some sort of integration into Google+:

First, the amount. After raising some $70 million in four venture rounds, Meebo's acquisition was in fact for around the rumored $100 million, we've heard from a source close to the matter.

Second, we've learned that the product team will be using its expertise to help build out publisher tools for Google+. We don't know if this means there'll be some sort of new Google+ toolbar coming. But, presumably the existing Meebo properties will be morphed into G+ or otherwise closed.

Meebo's iOS app hit the App Store back in February of 2010, after being introduced as a web app. It's one of the best free IM apps that includes push notifications. Congrats to the Meebo team on getting acquired by the big G. What's your favourite iOS IM app?
