jAggy Race is a single player race course game that pits you against the track. Don't worry, you're wearing a helmet.
What is it?
This is a straightforward beat the clock and stay on the track race.

How does it work?
There are arrows on the left and right of the screen to control direction and jumping. As you traverse the parts of the track that leave you upside down (don't panic—the in-game gravity wants to keep you on the track) the arrows will swivel to allow you to keep going in your intended direction.
There are obstacles in the form of giant circular saw blades over and under the track, and small, immovable blocks on the track. Some of the saw blades will require a jump; some blades you can float over if you follow the track at the right speed. If you hit a blade it will only knock you back. The blocks will also knock you back as far as the blades no matter how fast you are going when you hit them. Also, if you do hit an obstacle, you will coast to a stop regardless of whetheryou are pressing a direction arrow. Hitting an obstacle doesn't do any damage, but it will add several seconds to your lap time.
The track will take you up and down vertically and will wrap around on itself so that you are driving upside down. Watch your speed on the curves because you can overshoot a down curve and fly off the track and crash. If this happens, you only loose time and may have to try the course again to beat the time limit needed to advance to the next track.
As mentioned, some of the saw blades will require the use of the jump button and some you can "fall" over. Some of the track inversions are also something you can "fall" into. Be warned; if you don't fall with quite enough grace, you may end up racing backwards. If your car is pointing backwards, it's okay; the car will go as fast in reverse as it does going forward, just don't forget to press your thumb on the opposing direction arrow.
Is it contagious?
The graphics are fairly simple but easy on the eyes. The tracks have a friendly progression to help you get used to the game play gradually. You get some applause and confetti when you finish each track, and who doesn't like a little applause? The race against time aspect is enough to spark the usual competitive "I can beat this thing" response while still being whimsical and fun.
I don't know if the Stig would approve, but I had fun playing jAggy Race and hadn't even noticed 30 minutes had gone by…until the low battery beep went off.
