Rumor: Apple to use Sharp IGZO panels for high resolution iPad 3

Randomly accurate rumor site Digitimes is reporting from "industry sources" that Apple plans to utilize Sharp's IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) technology in the iPad 3, which has been rumored to come packed with a 2048×1536 Retina display.

Speculation that LG and Samsung, expected producers of the Retina display panels for the next iPad, had run into production issues could indicate why Apple has turned to Sharp, or at least added Sharp to the mix. Panel supply constraint has been a challenge for Apple since the launch of the original iPad in 2010.
