Pull Stills From Any iPhone Video With StillShot App [Video Review]

The iPhone 4 and 4S cameras are stellar, producing great pictures. But it can be tough to capture fast moving subjects. But what if there was a way to shoot video using the iPhone and then pull a still picture out of it?

You can with StillShot from Macadamia Apps. I've been using this app for a couple of days, and I love it. I have a lot of video of my son and I sometimes wish I could pull a still from it. I have tried timing it and using the iPhone's screen capture technique by pushing the home button and power button at the same time, but it's hit or miss whether I capture the right frame.

With StillShot, all you do is pick a video from your Camera Roll, find the frame you want, and tap save. Yes, it's that simple. The toughest part is going through all the frames.

Here's my video review of StillShot, showing you just how simple a process this this.

What's nice about StillShot, depending on what iPhone you shoot the video on, the stills you pull out will be at the video's highest resolution. So for example, if you use video shot with your iPhone 4S, the stills will have a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Not quite the amazing 3264 x 2448 resolution from the iPhone 4S's 8MP camera. But it's still good.

StillShot can be downloaded from the App Store for only $0.99.

Let me know what you think.
