Vodafone Germany may hint at iPhone 4S plans

Vodafone Germany may have supported talk of an iPhone 4S as this year's model after putting it in a device compatibility listing. Versions with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of space have shown up in both black (schwarz) and white (weiß) alongside the regular version. The carrier doesn't have listings for the phones themselves.

Companies sometimes put placeholders in without knowing the actual lineup. AT&T has gone so far as to prospectively stock 'iPhone 5' cases that cast some doubt on the iPhone 4S, even with code references showing the more conservative take in iTunes.

The Vodafone mention still supports talk of a new 64GB iPhone as part of an expanded lineup. Apple has had a maximum of 32GB of space since 2009 and has been under pressure to add more space even with iCloud to consider, as growing app sizes, music, and possible 1080p video could drive demand for more local space.

Having three models could point to lower prices for the new generation. Apple typically caps prices at $299 on contract and might be hesitant to go beyond that for the extra storage. [via iFun]
